Doubtful. It does however explain why I have been MIA for a while. Sure, I was also spending 12 straight hours cooking on Saturday, followed by almost 48 hours of board game playing with my Dad and Sister, due to serious rain conditions. More on that to follow.
I have to admit, I have always sort of looked down on those kids and adults who while away hours, weeks, months on their newest game system. After all, I never had one growing up, and I never developed the obsession. I did have one friend though who I spent the night with often in Elementary. She had a Nintendo 64 along with Super Mario games. It really used to irritate her when I would sink into a stupor and want to play the game the whole weekend. I have always had a soft spot for Mario. I believe it is the only game I have ever played.
Up until a couple months ago, I had never heard of a Wii. On one of Disney planning sites, a thread about it popped up. I was very intrigued by the idea. The physical nature of some of the games. I mentioned it to Justin, and he had certainly heard of it. Kacey heard us discussing it and just about died. Ever since the word Wii was spoken she has not stopped talking about it.
Because the games and accessories are so high, I decided it would be perfect if my dad got them the Wii for Christmas and their birthdays :)... That way we could handle all the rest. He agreed it was a good gift. He probably wouldn't have until all the talk of video games improving hand eye coordination came out. He proceeded to do some very creative legwork, before he finally found one in stock in Austin. When he arrived at our house last week, he brought it in in a plastic shopping bag. Needless to say, Kacey soon knew about the surprise. He had even purchased the Wii Play that comes with a second remote. We immediately had to go to my sister's house, so we all had to walk away from it.
We returned home Sunday evening. Even though Kacey had school we ended up playing the sports games until 10:00. Technically Daddy and I played until about 11:00. We loved all of the especially tennis and bowling. The golf was really hard to get used to. It didn't help that I knew nothing about the game. Luckily my Dad could walk me through the golf jargon.
The next day we played it some more...I loved the sports games, but I couldn't stop thinking about Mario. So I went to the store and bought Super Paper Mario. In this game Mario can switch between 2D and 3D, but it is still traditional enough to remind me of the old-style. So basically I came home and played it for about 4 hours straight until I was exhausted and went to bed. This morning after forcing myself to straighten up my house I played for another shocking embarrassing amount of hours. Now I am stuck trying to swim while shooting fire at a giant octopus. I have been killed like 14 times, and I actually have Nintendo thumb. It is seriously painful... I still love Mario though.
Thank you Daddy! I The kids really love it!
