Tea! (A NEW New Interest)

I am a lifelong dedicated coffee drinker. I like my coffee very strong and black. I have been drinking it since about 7th grade. I track down good beans and grind them myself. I usually have about 3-4 12 oz. cups per day.

I also have a sensitivity to caffeine, cold medicine, and anything like it. I usually get a little shaky after one large cup. This is irritating but I just make sure I space them out well.

Recently though, after reading the novel Rebecca and watching a Goods Eats based on tea I developed a new interest in tea. Reading about the afternoon tea in the book made me ache to attend one. Trays of scones with cream and jam, cakes, and bread and butter served alongside cups of tea... It just sounds so civilized.

Alton Brown gave me all the practical reasons to drink tea. First there are the health benefits. I read online that a 2005 study found that two cups of tea a day cut ovarian cancer risk by 46%. I can't tell you how accurate the study was, but I'll take all the help I can get. There are all the antioxidant benefits as well as possibly helping to prevent plaque and cavities in your teeth. That's just a few.

Then there is the fact that tea gives you a more gentle longer lasting lift. When drank around 3 to 4 in the afternoon alongside a nice scone or biscotti, it gives you the perfect amount of energy for cooking supper.

Now I am rambling. I could go on but I will not. I intend on visiting some tea shops in Texas.  I will pick up a teapot or two, some teacups, a tea cozy, and a few more varieties of tea. I can't wait to have all the supplies. Until then though I have my order from TeaSource. Which I received in only 4 days! They even threw in a sample. This is probably not my last time on this topic...
